We traveled back through Thrumsing La National Park and over Yotongla Pass (11,000 feet) at noon where patches of snow still covered the ground in the shade. Our bus stopped when we saw a beautiful Blood Pheasant (Ithaginis cruentus) (in photo) on the side of the road. The chicken-sized bird gets it’s name from the bright-red head, breast streaks and undertail-coverts. I hung out the window and got some photos. By Debbie Thompson in April 2009.
